PARENT’S NIGHT OUT

This month’s Parent’s Night Out program will be on Friday, March 2.  We will have pizza and movies for the children.  The price is $15 for your first child and $10 for each additional child.  Parent’s Night Out is normally held on the first Friday of every month, except on holiday weekends when it is held on the following Friday.  Space is limited and reservations are required.  If you sign up and cannot attend, please notify the Front Desk by noon on Friday to avoid having your account charged.

CANDID B&W PORTRAITS

The Pik-Chure Man will be taking candid black & white portraits of StarChild Academy’s students between Monday, March 5, and Wednesday, March 14.  A schedule will be sent home with your child’s daily papers.

DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME

Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday, March 11.  Remember to set your clocks ahead.

ST. PATRICK'S DAY PARTIES

Each of our classrooms will be having St. Patrick's Day parties on Friday, March 16.  If you would like to bring a special GREEN treat for your child's party, please see the sign-up sheet in each classroom.

ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Seminole County schools will be closed on Friday, March 16, through Friday, March 23, for Spring Break.  Orange County schools will be closed on Friday, March 23, through Friday, March 30, for Spring Break.  StarChild Academy will be providing full-day care for school-age children, including fun-filled field trips, on these days off from school.  Field trip details will be posted at: www.StarChildAcademy.com/field-trips.pdf

MARCH CURRICULUM

During the month of March, StarChild Academy’s Preschool classes will be learning about “Community Helpers”.  Our Advanced Preschool classes will be studying “The Farm”.  Our Pre-K classes will be talking about “Patriotism”.  The theme for our Kindergarteners will be “Taking Care of Our Earth”.  Our First and Second Graders will be learning about the “Westward Movement”.  Our Third Graders will be talking about “Survival”.

GRADUATION CEREMONIES

StarChild Academy’s Pre-K graduation ceremonies will be held at the Longwood Community Building during the afternoon of Sunday, June 3.  More details will be provided as we get closer to this date.  Please mark your calendars.

TAX STATEMENTS

Thanks to Federal tax rules, your family may be eligible for a credit on your income taxes for child care expenses.  Your accountant can provide you with the details.  Summaries of your family's payments to StarChild Academy are available at the front desk.

SCHOOL TRANSPORTATION

If your child will be absent from our after-school program on any particular day, please notify us in advance to avoid a telephone call to let you know that your child is unexpectedly missing.

FOREIGN LANGUAGES/MUSIC

Monthly newsletters for our American Sign Language, Arabic, Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, and Music programs are now available on StarChild Academy’s web site at: www.StarChildAcademy.com/wekiva.html  We invite parents to log on to see what their children are learning in these programs.

EXTRA-CURRICULAR CLASSES

Countryside Art Classes for school-age children meets on Tuesdays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Tuition is $48 per month.  There is a $25 annual supply fee.

CyberKids Academy for 2 to 5 year olds meets on Tuesdays from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.  Summer camp tuition is $125 for 10 weeks.

Duvall Dance Academy for 3 year olds and up meets on Thursdays between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Tuition is $50 per month.  There is a $20 registration fee.

Euro Soccer for 3 year olds and up meets on Wednesdays between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.  Tuition is $95 for three months.  Registration is free on-line at www.EuroSoccerSchools.com.

Gym Buddies Gymnastics for 2 to 5 year olds meets on Mondays between 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 p.m.  Tuition is $40 per month.  There is a $15 registration fee for this program.

Keyboard Piano for 4 year olds and up meets on Wednesdays between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.  Tuition is $50 per month.

PlayBall for 2 through 5 year olds meets on Tuesdays starting at 2:00 p.m.  There is a $10 registration fee (includes T-shirt) and tuition is $40 per month.

Reeve’s Karate meets on Fridays at 2:00 p.m. for 4 and 5 year olds and at 4:15 p.m. for school-age children.  Tuition is $45 per month.  There is a $45 registration & uniform fee for this program.

Rock-It Science for Kindergarteners through 5th Graders meets on Mondays from 4:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Tuition is $35 per month.
